Reality TV star and actress, Bamike Olawumi popularly known as Bambam, has shared a harrowing incident in which she intervened to save a Malawian mother of three from attempting suicide in Lagos.

In an emotional Instagram post, Bambam recounted how the distressed woman, allegedly driven by her husband’s infidelity and emotional abuse, attempted to hang herself from a GP tank near the movie set where Bambam was working in the Lekki-Ajah area.

The 35-year-old actress revealed that the woman’s husband, who reportedly has children with multiple women, had been tormenting her emotionally.

The woman, feeling isolated as a foreigner in Nigeria, was pushed to the brink.

“I heard a woman who climbed a GP tank, tied a rope around her neck, and was about to jump down to kill herself. She said her husband commanded her to do it. She has children in that house, one of whom is still breastfeeding. The man has baby mamas and is using every means to frustrate her. This woman is not Nigerian; she’s from Malawi and felt completely alone,” Bambam shared.

Bambam who was moved by the woman’s plight issued a public plea for assistance, asking for recommendations for rehabilitation centers and helplines to support the woman and her children.

Following her appeal, Lagos State authorities intervened. Providing an update, Bambam expressed gratitude to Nigerians who responded swiftly during an Instagram live session.

She wrote, “I have spoken to @justadetoun, and Lagos State has taken over the case. The woman and her three sons are safe. God bless everyone who called and reached out.”

Bambam also thanked actress Omoni Oboli and others who prioritized the case despite their busy schedules.

She cautioned against giving in to despair, adding, “Please don’t take your life because of one stupid son or daughter of Adam. There is still faith in humanity.”
