Published

The prolonged conflicts between the Oyo state government and the ousted council officials appear to be nearing resolution.

This development follows the intervention of the Minister of Power, Oloye Adebayo Adelabu, during his visit to the Governor’s office on Monday, January 15.

The minister, accompanied by the former chairman of the dismissed Association of Local Governments of Nigeria members, Prince Ayodeji Abass-Aleshinloye, played a key role in facilitating peace talks.

Prince Aleshinloye was previously removed from office by the governor upon assuming power.

According to The Nation, a reliable source disclosed that during the closed-door meeting, Governor Seyi Makinde pledged to promptly release the funds in question, signaling a resolution to the dispute.

“Today, peace has been brokered between the State government and the sacked members of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria as Governor Seyi Makinde promises to release the fund immediately.

“The Minister of Power, Chief Adelabu intervened in the crisis, by appealing to the state government and representative of the Ex-ALGON represented by Prince Aleshinloye to embrace peace.

“The Minister intervened on Monday, at the state secretariat during a working visit to the state Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde earlier today.

“This came as the former ALGON Chairman was on the entourage of the Minister who was on a working visit to the state,” the source revealed

In a light-hearted moment during the courtesy visit, Governor Makinde jokingly acknowledged Aleshinloye’s presence, quipping that he noticed Aleshinloye in the office, suggesting that the visit was a reminder of the pending financial matters. The banter elicited laughter from those present.

According to the source, Chief Adelabu played a crucial role in brokering peace during the closed-door meeting between the governor and former Chairman Prince Abass-Aleshinloye. The governor assured a prompt settlement of the outstanding debt.
