Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has gifted a new Sports Utility Vehicle to popular gospel singer and broadcaster, Yinka Ayefele, after a fire outbreak destroyed parts of his Fresh FM Music House in Ibadan last Friday.

The fire, which razed sections of the media house, consumed property worth millions of naira, leaving Ayefele and his team counting heavy losses.

Presenting the SUV on Tuesday at the Music House in Challenge, Ibadan, the governor, represented by the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Ademola Ojo, said the gesture was to show support and encourage Ayefele for his resilience and contribution to the state.

Ojo, while handing over the keys, said, “On behalf of the State Governor, Makinde, and the State Government, we are here to commiserate with you. You are a symbol of perseverance and inspiration to millions of Nigerians. On behalf of the Governor and the state government, we present this gift to you.”

The Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Wasiu Olatubosun, and the Special Adviser to the Governor on Media, Sulaiman Olanrewaju, were also present at the event.

Ayefele, visibly moved by the gesture, expressed gratitude to the governor and acknowledged the support he had received since the incident.

It would be recalled that Governor Makinde had visited the Music House a day after the inferno to sympathise with Ayefele and see the extent of the damage.
