Anambra State Governor, Prof Chukwuma Soludo, has called on churches that operate schools in the state to make school fees affordable.
During the state’s annual prayer rally at the Dr. Alex Ekwueme Square in Awka on Sunday, Soludo emphasized the importance of ensuring that every child in Anambra has an equal opportunity for education by making school fees more affordable.
He acknowledged that Anambra State is predominantly Christian and called for unity within Christendom in the state.
He also pledged to maintain a continued partnership with the church to promote positive change and growth in the state.
Soludo said, “We must do the work of God here on earth because God won’t come down from heaven to do it. Government must live up to its responsibility, the church and the larger society also have theirs. The twin factors driving us are compassion and transformation. The day leaders lose the link of compassion for the weakest link in the chain, then the whole essence of governance is lost.”
The governor encouraged church leaders to reduce school fees and levies to ensure that even the poorest members of the community can afford quality education.
He emphasized that making education accessible to all, regardless of their financial situation, is a critical step toward building a more inclusive society.
He vowed to partner with the church to continue driving positive change in the state.
