Mahrez nets hattrick as Man City thrash Burnley 5-0

Riyad Mahrez bagged a hat-trick as Manchester City mauled Burnley 5-0 at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday night.

The Algerian began the Citizen’s five-star performance with a 6th-minute goal after an assist from Belgian playmaker, Kevin De Bruyne.
Mahrez once again was no the scoresheet as he combined with Kyle Walker’s throw-in which caught the Burnley defence napping.

City made it 3-0 in the 41st minute of the first half, this time, from left-back, Benjamin Mendy. De Bruyne was the mastermind yet again as his floated pass found Mendy thunderous volley.
Guardiola’s men were far from done with the visitors as the put in two more goals in the second half to complete the five-star rout of Sean Dyche’s men.
New signing Ferran Torres also got his name on the score sheet in the 66th minute after an assist from Gabriel Jesus.
Mahrez wrapped up the goalscoring to complete his hattrick when Foden picked up De Bruyne’s through-ball to deliver a pinpoint first-time cross to the back post where Mahrez is on hand to thunder a header past the keeper.
Reports revealed that City have won their last seven meetings with Burnley in all competitions by an aggregate score of 28-1 with
Dyche’s men have now lost seven of their last 10 Premier League games (W1 D2), after losing just one of their 15 before that (W8 D6).

Meanwhile, Manchester City became only the second side in Football League history to win four successive home games by 5+ goals against a single opponent in all competitions, after Notts County v Port Vale between October 1893 and February 1907.
