Nigerian Afrobeats star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has sparked widespread reactions online after sharing a humorous story about a personal invitation he received from football legend, Cristiano Ronaldo.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Davido revealed that Ronaldo had once invited him to watch a Manchester United match at the iconic Old Trafford stadium.
According to the singer, the plan extended beyond just the match—it was meant to be a full evening of celebration, including dinner and post-game relaxation.
However, things didn’t go as expected. The team suffered a disappointing defeat, which changed the atmosphere completely.
Davido noted that Ronaldo, visibly upset, abruptly left and returned home, cancelling the evening’s plans.
The singer didn’t hold back in placing blame for the spoiled night, calling out Manchester United defender Harry Maguire for the team’s poor performance.
“Football ehn fit give person BP … I remember when CR7 personally invite me come watch match for Old Trafford then couple years ago … He don book dinner ALL! Party chillin etc …. Nah so dem go lose match .. BABA VEX GO HOUSE .. since that day I still never forgive Maguire,” he wrote, adding laughing emojis to show he was taking the incident in good humour.
Davido’s playful recount has since generated buzz across social media, with fans reacting to the unexpected glimpse into his connection with one of football’s biggest stars.
