A magnitude 5.9 earthquake struck Indonesia’s Flores region early Monday, according to the German Research Center for Geosciences.

The earthquake occurred at a depth of approximately 10 kilometers (6.21 miles), with its epicenter initially recorded at 8.57 degrees south latitude and 121.55 degrees east longitude.

There were no immediate reports of casualties or property damage following the latest tremor.

The earthquake came days after a powerful magnitude 7.7 quake struck six regencies on eastern Flores Island.

Indonesia has imposed a 14-day emergency response period following Saturday’s earthquake, which claimed at least 47 lives, state media reported.

Search and rescue teams continued operations on Sunday in an effort to locate survivors, while supplies of fuel and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) had been restored across Flores.

Nearly 6,000 people were sheltering in the Sikka, Manggara, Nagekeo, Bima and Selayar areas.

The earlier earthquake damaged 914 homes, 93 educational facilities, 36 health facilities and 38 government offices.
