The youth wing aligned with the Julius Abure–led faction of the Labour Party has reaffirmed its loyalty to the party’s current state executives, declaring its decision to continue recognising and working with the existing leadership structures across the country.
The group said the decision was taken in response to what it described as the refusal of the Sen. Nenadi Usman–led interim National Working Committee to acknowledge the party’s state and local government organs.
In a statement made available to journalists and signed by the National Youth Leader, Prince Kennedy Ahanotu, the faction explained that youth leaders from the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory held a virtual meeting where they resolved to stand firmly behind the leadership of Julius Abure.
The statement reads, “We, the State Youth Leaders of the Labour Party across the 36 states of Nigeria and FCT having followed with keen interest the developments in the leadership of our great party especially as it regards to a shocking cum unbelievable court judgement pronouncing a non member of our party as the interim caretaker chairman, as well as the illegal invasion and hijack of our party headquarters in Abuja.
“We deliberated on these issues and other matters during our quarterly interactive meeting with the National Youth Leader Prince Kennedy Ahanotu, and the following resolutions were reached.
“We join our voices with that of our State Chairmen and all the local structures of the party to declare our Solidarity with the constitutionally and morally recognised National Leadership of our party ably led by Barr Julius Abure and Alhaji Umar Farouk as the National Chairman and Secretary.
“Therefore, as the mobilization arm and field soldiers of the party at the sub-national level, passes a vote of confidence on the National Chairman Barr ,Julius Abure, National Secretary Alh Umar Farouk, our National Youth Leader Prince Kennedy Ahanotu and all the National Officers of the party.
“We also looked at the unlawful invasion and temporal hijack of our party national secretariat and hereby inform the current illegal occupants led by one have Sen Nenadi Usman to expect the reaction of the Labour Party youths very soon as the youth leaders resolved to storm the National Secretariat Abuja in the coming weeks.
“We lso called on the Nigerian judiciary via NJC, the Artoney General of the Federation, NBA, and the Legal Disciplinary Committee to rise and save democratic institutions in Nigeria from political manipulation and possible individual hijack by investigating the Judgement of the Federal High Court of 21th January 2026 where in Nenadi Usman was forced on the party without our party constitutional legitimacy by Justice Lifu in a clear and flagrant violation of our party constitution.
“We have observed with laughter the failed plan by the unknown, andinal backdoor party hijackers to act to show dissolve a duly constituted subnational (ward, LGA, and State) excos of the party. These acts show that their intentions are never for the progress of the party but to destroy the foundational integrity of the Labour Party. Hence, we usethet medium to warn Nenadi and Co to bury the plan of further desecration of our party as we await the Appeal Court judgement.
“We want to thank the INEC for speaking up as expected of such a respected electoral institution, or clearly informing Sen.Nenadithe Usman Bour of the limit of her Abia State-funded powers as it regards the leadership and constitution of Lathe bour Party”, he stated.
