He was chosen on Friday during the party’s National Executive Committee meeting held in Abuja.

The NEC also appointed Senator Darlington Nwokocha as the interim national secretary along with other members of the party’s interim working committee.

The committee will take charge of all party activities until a new national leadership is elected during the party’s convention.

The NEC meeting also approved plans for ward congresses, local government area congresses, state congresses, zonal congresses, and the national convention.

The national secretariat was directed to publish the guidelines and timelines for these congresses to ensure free and fair elections at all levels.
