The Labour Party has appointed a new leadership structure for its Adamawa State chapter, inaugurating a 14-member caretaker committee to steer the party’s affairs.

The committee was formally inaugurated in Yola on Wednesday by the Deputy National Chairman of the party, Bishop Esther Gulmu, who urged members to operate strictly in line with the Labour Party’s constitution as they carry out their responsibilities.

The newly constituted committee is led by Beatrice Benjamin as chairman.

In her acceptance speech, Beatrice assured members of a purposeful and seamless transition, describing the committee’s emergence as a necessary step toward unifying the party and restoring its progress.

She vowed, “We are here not to fight anyone but to build policy, advocacy and to promote democracy, and to be all inclusive and to carry everybody along.
Without you, I am not anybody and without your support l can’t go anywhere, so l’m riding on your support and experience.”

The Labour Party in Adamawa has grappled with prolonged internal disputes, with former chairman Nicholas Christopher repeatedly facing resistance from members who refused to recognise his leadership.
