Ace rapper and actor, Ikechukwu Onunaku, has expressed his fears about the rising cases of depression and how many have succumbed to committing suicide which sadly has become a trend.
The raper said some of this is as a result of is the culture of rubbing ‘our successes in the faces of those who aren’t so fortunate.
The rapper said this while reacting to the death of Olanrewaju Pelepele, an upcoming rapper, who was reportedly formerly signed to YBNL records, a recording
outfit owned by alist rapper, Olamide.

Pelepele committed suicide on 20th of September at Ikorodu. The upcoming rapper took his life a week after talking about his battle with depression on his Instagram Page.
Reacting, Ikechukwu said there is a way out of depression when people speak out to colleagues, friends, family members and the likes. He said;
“We need to be human again. Feel. Talk. We spend too much time putting others down or focusing on generating negative energy. It’s very necessary that we look out for one another.
It’s not busybody, it’s not putting your nose inside another person’s business. It’s caring. It’s sharing. It’s love. The honest truth is love can solve almost all our issues if not all. If the people in powerful positions loved their people they wouldn’t steal from them. They wouldn’t allow them to suffer while they enjoy life.
Another thing is this whole culture of rubbing our successes in the faces of those who aren’t so fortunate. It’s terrible and part of the problem. Once someone wins the first thing they say is I wanna give thanks to God.
If u really love God and his word you would do your best to lift up others. In any and every way possible. I’m not saying I’m a saint but I’m aware of what needs to be done and where we can start. My people all we need is us. All we need is love. Starting now can stop a lot of tragedy that is yet to come.”
WuzupNaija gathered that the deceased committed suicide because he was frustrated and tormented by life because of his inability to fully break into the Nigerian music industry despite 10 years of hard work.

Pelepele’s post reads in part, “10 years ago, I told God to grant my fasting and prayer so that I can be successful as a musician. I told Him to take my life if I didn’t blow after putting my energy. Here, I am today. God is just unjust and I’m not sorry to say,” he had written.
“I don’t feel any belonging to this world again because I feel tormented by life.
“Three years after my 10 years dead with God, Olamide saw the talents in me and signed me to his YBNL Nation record which is like a free ticket to success but everything just crashed. Why e go be me now, wetin I do from the beginning.
“I got depressed with everything and I don’t think there’s a reason for me to stay in this world.
“Tomorrow will make it 7days of #mylastmoment note and I have already gotten this (he showed a sniper) to kill myself. God bless you all.”
