A teenage girl, simply identified as Amaka, who was reported missing in Lagos over the weekend, has been found.

Amaka reportedly went missing on Saturday from her guardian’s home at Okota, in Lagos before she was found by a woman who returned her home on Sunday evening.

Though she refused to disclose where she passed the night, her guardian has said she would be returned to her people in the village where she was living before coming to live with her in Lagos.

Amaka’s photos circulated on the social media on Sunday morning after a post by a Facebook user, Possible Oge, announcing her disappearance from the home since Saturday.

Possible had posted:

“AMAKA IS MISSING!! This is Amaka, The girl living with my sis, she left the house since yesterday afternoon on her own, and hasn’t been seen till now, please and please, guys, help me rebroadcast, Amaka doesn’t have any other relation in Lagos, we have searched the whole Area to no avail, we stay in Okota, and our Shop in in Bucknor,
Please help me broadcast!!!!!”

At 8pm on Sunday evening Possible posted on Facebook that Amaka had been found by a good samaritan who saw her at Jakande estate in Isolo and recognised her as the missing girl whose photos circulated on social media.

She wrote;

“AMAKA HAS BEEN FOUND!!! Amaka went from Ago to Bucknor, and spent the night with who she has refused to disclose, the woman that brought her back said she saw her this sunday evening around her area in Jakande estate and recognized her, now insisted that she must carry her home. The good woman brought her back!

“She is going back to the village, first thing 2mao morning! Thanks to everyone who were really supportive, mhen, the support and encouragements was overwhelming, thank you guys so much!!”

On Monday morning, Possible wrote on Facebook to appreciate those who supported in the search for the missing girl, insisting that Amaka would go back to her people despite criticism from some Facebook users that the girl ran away from home because she was being maltreated by her guardian.

“AMAKA HAS BEEN FOUND, she is going back to her people and if you believe that’s not the right thing to do, then I’m sorry,” Possible wrote.

Some Facebook users had taken to the comment section of Possible’s Facebook post to accuse her and her sister of maltreating Amaka, alleging that the girl ran away from home because she was not properly taken care of by her guardian.
