Nigeria as a nation is no doubt very cultural sensitive because different ethnic groups have one or two things to display about their culture that makes it unique from the other.
Nigeria has 250 ethnic groups. The most populous and politically influential include: Hausa and Fulani 29%, Yoruba 21%, Igbo (Ibo) 18%, Ijaw 10%, Kanuri 4%, Ibibio 3.5%, Tiv 2.5%. Though English is the official language but, there are still over 500 additional indigenous languages in the country.
The value attached to culture in this clime propels different ethnic group to create a special day for their cultural celebration or festival.
Ekiti State which is currently celebrating its 2016 Igbara Odo Day celebration has lined up entertaining activities to make the festival more interesting and worthwhile.
It was gathered that the activities lined up to mark this year’s celebration comprised; Game Competition (Ayo Olopon and Draught) which is on-going at Ojude Oba, Arajaka’s Palace, Igbara Odo-Ekiti under the watch of His Royal Highness, Oba Edward Olatunji Jayeola, the Arajaka of Igbara Odo-Ekiti.
The game engaged elders and youths in an intense competition as shown in the pictures shared by Mr. Gbadura Oluwasola, Media Assistant to Hon.(Chief) Segun Adekola, the Chairman House Of Representatives Committee On Youths Development.
