Former Tottenham and Portsmouth forward, Kevin-Prince Boateng, is reportedly set to make a shock loan move to Barcelona.

According to various reports from Europe, the 31-year-old Ghanaian’s representatives have agreed terms with the Catalans.

Boateng currently plays for Italian side Sassuolo and has scored five goals in 15 appearances since joining from Eintracht Frankfurt in the summer.

Barca are reportedly impressed with the midfielder’s performances as in a false 9 position for Roberto De Zerbi’s side.

Boateng is expected to fly to Barcelona on Monday to complete his move, which is expected to include an option for Barcelona to purchase him for €8m at the end of the season.

The news comes from an Italian journalist and transfer guru, Gianluca Di Marzio, who says the move will be a loan, presumably till the end of the season.

In the 2016/17 season, he scored 10 goals in the Spanish top tier playing for Las Palmas, although it still seems like an odd move for the Catalan giants.

Boateng has previously had his issues and had his contract terminated at Schalke as a result of ‘poor behaviour’ with the same at Las Palmas for ‘irreversible personal reasons.’

Boateng, who spent two seasons at White Hart Lane before moving to Fratton Park in 2009.
