Chelsea manager, Mauricio Pochettino conceded that his team deserved the defeat against Liverpool on Wednesday night at Anfield, where they suffered a 4-1 loss.

Goals from Diogo Jota, Conor Bradley, Dominik Szoboszlai, and Luis Díaz secured the win for the hosts, while Christopher Nkunku netted one for Chelsea in the second half.

“It was evident that they were superior to us. We lost every individual battle. Whenever we regained possession, we lost it after the first or second touch,” admitted Pochettino.

“The victory was well deserved for them. In the second half, we made some adjustments, and Mudryk had a clear opportunity to score, but then we conceded again.

“Later, we managed to pull one back to make it 3-1, and perhaps a penalty for Nkunku would have given us a chance. However, there’s no point in dwelling on the decision. The fact remains that Liverpool outplayed us. It was unfortunate for us, but it doesn’t change the fact that Liverpool was superior,” Pochettino reflected post-match.

Following the defeat, Chelsea finds themselves in 10th place with 31 points from 22 games.
