Liverpool have reportedly reached an agreement to sign Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak for a British record fee of £130 million.
Reports from The Athletic and The Telegraph on Monday said the Swedish forward will undergo his medical today before finalising a six-year deal with the Premier League champions.
Isak, 25, had an impressive run last season, scoring 23 goals in the Premier League. He was second only to Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah on the scoring chart and helped Newcastle secure a Champions League spot.
His transfer saga has stretched through the summer. Isak trained away from the rest of the squad after expressing his desire to join Liverpool, sparking tension within the club.
Newcastle’s signing of German striker Nick Woltemade for a reported £69 million last weekend signaled that Isak’s departure was imminent.
If confirmed, the deal will make Isak the most expensive signing in British football history, surpassing the £115 million Chelsea paid for Moisés Caicedo in 2023.
