Liverpool dropped more points on Saturday after letting a two-goal advantage slip in a 3-3 draw against Leeds United at Elland Road, piling more pressure on manager Arne Slot.

The Reds went ahead through Hugo Ekitike’s quick double before Dominik Szoboszlai added another. But Leeds refused to fold, hitting back repeatedly to deny Liverpool a much-needed win. The draw means Liverpool have now failed to win in eight of their last ten league matches and sit eighth in the table, showing no real sign of stopping their worrying decline since winning the league last season.

Slot’s decision-making will again face scrutiny, especially his continued trust in Ibrahima Konate, who conceded the penalty that sparked Leeds’ fightback. Leeds grew confident after Dominic Calvert-Lewin converted the spot-kick, and Anton Stach soon levelled with a strong finish.

Szoboszlai restored Liverpool’s lead moments later, but the Reds switched off deep into added time. They failed to clear a corner and Ao Tanaka smashed in the equaliser at the back post.

Liverpool started the match with Ekitike leading the attack ahead of club-record signing Alexander Isak, while Mohamed Salah was on the bench for the third straight game.

Leeds entered the match full of belief after beating Chelsea 3-1 in midweek, easing pressure on manager Daniel Farke. The point pushes them three points above the relegation zone.

Curtis Jones came closest in the first half, curling an effort off the crossbar in an otherwise quiet opening 45 minutes.

Ekitike punished a mistake from Joe Rodon early in the second half for his first goal, then quickly added a second when Lucas Perri’s attempted clearance bounced off him and into the net. The French striker has been one of the few bright spots among Liverpool’s costly summer signings and now has eight goals this season.

But defensive errors cost Liverpool again. Konate’s poor decision to dive in on Willy Gnonto led to the penalty after a VAR review. Leeds drew level seconds later when Stach finished calmly inside the box.

Liverpool replied through Szoboszlai after a clever assist from Alexis Mac Allister, but it wasn’t enough. Tanaka’s late goal sealed a dramatic finish, leaving the Reds frustrated once more.
