Arsenal sought redemption for 2023’s Premier League setbacks but squandered numerous chances against Liverpool in their first 2024 match.

Despite a bright start, the Gunners couldn’t find the net, with Martin Odegaard hitting the crossbar and Reiss Nelson and Kai Havertz failing to convert.

The first half-ended level featured woodwork hits from both sides.

The second half saw continued struggles in front of goal for both teams.

Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka and Liverpool’s Darwin Nunez missed crucial chances.

The turning point came in the 80th minute with Jakub Kiwior’s own goal, followed by Luis Diaz’s injury-time strike, sealing Arsenal’s fate with a 2-0 loss in the FA Cup.

This defeat marks Arsenal’s third consecutive loss in all competitions, with only one win in their last seven matches, intensifying the pressure on Arteta to address their goal-scoring challenges.

Meanwhile, Liverpool advances to the fourth round, still in contention for four trophies this season.
