Liverpool drop Salah for inter clash after outburst

Mohamed Salah has been left out of Liverpool’s squad for Tuesday’s Champions League trip to Inter Milan, days after the forward publicly criticised the club and manager Arne Slot.

Salah trained with the team on Sunday and again on Monday, even taking part in a midday session shown on the club’s YouTube channel. He was also seen driving into Liverpool’s training complex earlier in the day. Despite this, the club decided he would not travel with the squad to Italy.

His omission follows his heated interview after Liverpool’s 3-3 draw with Leeds United on Saturday. The 33-year-old did not start for the third match in a row and did not come off the bench at all. After the game, he claimed he had been treated unfairly.

He said, “I’m very, very disappointed. I have done so much for this club.”

Salah also accused unnamed officials of wanting him out and said he had no relationship with Slot. He hinted that Liverpool’s upcoming match with Brighton might be his final Anfield appearance this season.

He said he felt he had been “thrown under the bus”.

Liverpool officials believe giving Salah time away from selection is the best step for now. The club’s decision was made together with Slot, who is understood to fully support the move. However, Salah will not face any formal disciplinary action.

The Egypt captain will also leave for the Africa Cup of Nations on December 15 after Liverpool’s matches against Inter and Brighton.

Salah’s outburst came just as he appeared in another viral moment, telling reporters he was being scapegoated for the team’s recent struggles.

“It was a shock,” a club source said, noting concerns about the growing tension between the player and the management.
