LG Election: Oyo declares Friday public holiday

The Oyo State Government has declared Friday, May 21 a public holiday.

This was disclosed in a statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Taiwo Adisa.

Adisa confirmed that Governor Seyi Makinde approved the holiday to allow the state to conduct the upcoming Saturday’s local government election in Oyo State.

However every resident of Oyo State has been advised to make the voting a peaceful one, as they go out to perform their duties and participate in the election.

The statement partly read, “His Excellency, Governor ‘Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, has authorized the declaration of Friday, May 21, 2021, as a public holiday.

“The declaration of the holiday is to allow residents of the state participate freely in the council elections billed to hold on Saturday, May 22, 2021.”
