A group has demanded an open apology from ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo over a letter he wrote to President Muhammadu Buhari sometime last month.
The Katsina State chapter of Buhari/Masari Volunteers Forum, on Wednesday, described the contents of the letter as ‘reckless utterances’.
Obasanjo had written to Buhari, highlighting the shortcomings of the All Progressives Congress since it took power at the Federal level. He also noted that Nigerians are groaning in extreme hardship, adding that Buhari should not seek re-election in 2019.
But the State Coordinator of the Forum, Kabir Ado Daura, while addressing journalists in Katsina, said Obasanjo should have spoken to the president privately instead of the open letter he wrote.
Daura said:
“Obasanjo should not forget that most of the influential and highly respected leaders of the world have publicly acknowledged that President Muhammadu Buhari is a man of honour and integrity and is moving Nigeria to a greater height.
“Obasanjo accused Buhari of failure in two areas of economy and appointments but he should note that 90 percent of the economic managers are from the South, so if there is any shortcoming, he should blame them.
“Buhari employed over 200,000 Nigerian graduates through the N-power programmer.
“We wish to bring to the notice of Nigerians that the sum of $52 billion was used by the President in two years to achieve what could not be achieved with $445 billion in five years.”
