Billionaire businessman, Femi Otedola has been “filled with sadness” over the recent chaos the preceded the October 20 shooting of protesters at Lekki by soldiers.

While there have been no bodies found till date, Otedola, in a statement on his official Instagram account, sympathised with those who have lost families in the commotion.

He said, “The horrors that have been unfolding in our country have left me filled with sadness. I deeply commiserate with those who have lost their loved ones and as a father, I share the sentiment of my three daughters who protested in Lagos and London.

Otedola revealed that he understands the plight of Nigerian youths, having participated in the 1978 protests in the country.

“As a young boy of 16, I participated in the ‘Ali Must Go Protest’ of 1978, so I understand the determination of our youths who rightly want our country to be better.

The father of four, however, urged all to do all that it takes to make the country great again, adding that he won’t back down from supporting the vulnerable in the country.

“We must all do our part to make Nigeria great! I will continue to do my own quota in providing for those who are most in need of support in our country in these tough times .…F.Ote.”

Starting from Lagos on October 8, Nigeria witnessed a two-week protest against police brutality with the #EndSARS campaign that grew beyond the shores of the nation.

After two-week of peaceful demonstrations in major cities of the country hoodlums and soldiers interruption on October 20 marred the course.

Soldiers opened fire on peaceful protesters who were waving the Nigerian flag and singing the National Anthem at the Lekki toll gate, ushering in chaos as hoodlums looted and vandalised private and government-owned properties belonging.
