Interest is reportedly growing across Europe in Nigerian-eligible attacking midfielder Francis Onyeka, with German sides RB Leipzig and FC Schalke 04 among those monitoring his progress ahead of the summer transfer window, alongside several unnamed clubs from the Premier League.

The teenager has enjoyed a strong development spell in Germany this season while on loan at VfL Bochum in Bundesliga 2.

He is currently contracted to reigning Bundesliga champions Bayer 04 Leverkusen, from whom he joined Bochum temporarily to gain first-team experience.

Onyeka has stood out as one of the most promising young performers in the German second tier, registering eight goals and one assist in 31 appearances across all competitions. His steady rise in form has not gone unnoticed, with reports from Fussballdaten indicating that Leipzig and Schalke are actively tracking his development.

The increasing attention has fuelled speculation about a possible transfer in the upcoming window, with multiple European clubs expected to test Bayer Leverkusen’s resolve.

Despite external interest, Leverkusen are said to still view the youngster as a key part of their long-term project. Onyeka remains under contract until June 2028, though the club could be open to discussions if a substantial offer is presented during the summer.

The German champions are reportedly valuing the midfielder in the region of €30 million to €35 million, as they look to balance squad planning with potential revenue from player sales.

While Leverkusen are believed to prefer selling him outside Germany—particularly to the English Premier League rather than strengthening a domestic rival—they are expected to consider serious bids from Bundesliga clubs if they meet their valuation.

On the international stage, Onyeka has already featured for Germany at U19 level, but he remains eligible to represent Nigeria at senior level, leaving his international future still open.
