Leicester City have completed the signing of Nigerian midfielder Joe Aribo on a loan deal, the club announced on Monday.
The 29-year-old arrives at the King Power Stadium from Southampton, bringing experience from both the Premier League and the Championship. Aribo has made 111 appearances for the Saints over four seasons.
Speaking to the club’s media, Aribo expressed his excitement, saying, “For me, it’s amazing to have got it done and I just can’t wait to get going. I’ve always known the squad is good. I’m so certain [about] where we can get to and what we can do together. It’s just good to be a part of it.”
Born in England, Aribo began his career at Staines Town before moving to Charlton Athletic in 2015. He later joined Rangers, where he made 149 appearances, scored 26 goals, and won the Scottish Premiership in 2020/21. He also scored in the 2022 UEFA Europa League final, which Rangers lost on penalties.
Internationally, Aribo has earned 34 caps for Nigeria since his debut in 2019 and featured in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations final, where the Super Eagles finished as runners-up.
He will join his new teammates ahead of Leicester’s next Championship fixture against Birmingham City on Saturday, February 7.
