Lebanon’s Health Ministry reported Thursday that Israeli attacks since March 2 have claimed at least 1,001 lives and left 2,584 people injured.

The ministry stated that the casualties include 118 children and 79 women, while among the injured, 365 were children and 414 were women.

In the past 24 hours alone, 33 people were killed and 152 others sustained injuries from Israeli airstrikes, the ministry added.

Israeli forces have intensified air attacks across Lebanon since early March amid cross-border clashes with Hezbollah, despite a ceasefire that has been in effect since November 2024.

Israel’s Channel 12 reported Wednesday that Tel Aviv plans to occupy the first line of villages in southern Lebanon to prevent attacks originating from the area.

The surge in violence comes in the wake of a joint US-Israeli offensive on Iran, which has reportedly killed around 1,300 people since February 28. In retaliation, Tehran has launched drone and missile strikes targeting Israel as well as Jordan, Iraq, and Gulf nations, claiming these attacks are aimed at “US military assets.”
