American rapper Cardi B is facing a fresh lawsuit from the woman who threw a drink at her during a performance in 2023.

The woman, using the name Jane Doe, claims the rapper caused her emotional distress by hitting her with a microphone in front of a crowd.

The incident happened at Drai’s Beachclub in Las Vegas. Jane Doe admitted she was part of the audience interaction where Cardi asked fans to splash water on her during a segment of her show. But she claims Cardi’s reaction was violent and not justified.

According to her statement, “What has been written off as a joke by many people is actually a traumatic experience that has significantly impacted my well-being and quality of life. I’m seeking justice in the hopes of holding Cardi B accountable for her misdeeds, as no celebrity is above the law.”

Jane Doe is suing Cardi for assault, battery, and negligence. She also included Drai’s Beachclub in the lawsuit for not taking action on the day of the incident. She mentioned that the microphone used in the incident was later auctioned on eBay for \$99,900, which made her feel even more humiliated.

Her attorney, Cierra N. Norris, is expected to hold a press conference on Thursday in Las Vegas.

Cardi B’s lawyer, Drew Findling, dismissed the case and called it a money grab. “The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department and the Clark County District Attorney’s Office closed this matter for insufficient evidence a long time ago, but apparently the opportunity to try to make money off of a celebrity was too much for some willing law firm to pass up,” he said.

In a past interview on *The Breakfast Club*, Cardi explained that she had earlier told the crowd to splash her with water but warned them to avoid her face. She said the drink Jane Doe threw came 15 to 20 minutes later and hit her with both water and ice.

“When my face got hit, I just automatically reacted,” Cardi told the show’s hosts. She added that she later saw videos from the event and believed the woman threw the drink on purpose to hurt her.
