Lawyer demands exhumation of Mohbad’s body

The Attorney General of Lagos State, Moyosore Onigbanjo, has received a letter from a lawyer, Festus Ogun, demanding a Coroner’s Inquest into the mysterious death of Nigerian singer, Ilerioluwa Aloba, aka Mohbad.
According to PUNCH Online, the Lagos Police Command has set up a 13-man special investigation team to unravel the cause of Mohbad’s death last week.
The Lagos State Commissioner, Idowu Owohunwa, said on Monday that they have access to INTERPOL and they will identify and bring to justice anyone involved in Mohbad’s death.
Ogun said in a statement on Monday that there were strong indications that Mohbad did not die a natural death, citing videos on social media showing Mohbad suffering and complaining about the pains he endured from some people.
He also said there were credible reports that Mohbad was constantly bullied, harassed, tortured, assaulted and intimidated by some elements who threatened him and his musical career until his death.
He said the stories told by those who were with Mohbad before and at the time of his death were contradictory and unconvincing. He also criticized the hasty burial of the artiste, saying it raised suspicion and concern. He said there were reasons to believe that Mohbad’s death was unnatural and suspicious.
“In line with Sections 14 and 15 of the Coroner’s Systems Law of Lagos State, we hereby request for a Coroner’s Inquest to investigate and determine the cause and circumstances of Mohbad’s death.
“Importantly, we humbly request that you exercise the power under Section 17 of the Coroner’s System Law to order the exhumation of his body for the Chief Medical Examiner to anatomically determine the cause of his death.
“Upon conclusion of the Coroner’s Inquest, we are hopeful that the findings of the investigation will be made public and those found wanting will be sanctioned by the appropriate authorities”. The statement further read
Ogun, in his statement, further stated that he had absolute trust in the competence and integrity of the Lagos State Coroner System to reveal the truth about Mohbad’s tragic death, and he hoped that his request would be treated urgently in the interest of justice and fairness.
