The Lagos Waste Management Authority has commenced bulk waste evacuation along the Lagos–Badagry Expressway, urging residents, traders, and transport operators to dispose of waste through assigned Private Sector Participant operators.

In a statement on Monday via official social media platforms, the Lagos State Government said the intervention is part of a broader compliance and environmental sustainability drive.

The Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of LAWMA, Muyiwa Gbadegesin, said during a monitoring exercise across identified waste blackspots on Saturday that the agency has deployed heavy-duty carriers, loaders, and support teams to clear illegal dump sites.

“LAWMA has commenced bulk waste evacuation at Alaba Rago along the Lagos–Badagry Expressway, deploying heavy-duty carriers, loaders and support teams to clear illegal dump sites,” Gbadegesin said.

“Residents, traders, and transport operators are advised to dispose of waste only through assigned PSP operators and comply strictly with environmental regulations.”

The monitoring and cleanup covered key areas including Orile, Doyin, Alaba Rago, Agric, Barracks Iyana-Iba, and Agbara. The exercise, he added, would extend to other waste blackspots along the corridor.
