Lagos to parade gender-based violence offenders

The Lagos State Government has reahed a resolution to henceforth publicly parade any resident found guilty of gender-based violence across the state.

Accoridng to The PUNCH, the disclosure was made by the Lagos State Ministry of Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation on Monday during the commemoration of the 16-day activism against gender-based violence for youths.

The event with the theme ‘Orange the World, Stop Gender- Based Violence against women and girls now!’ , was held at the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Alausa, Lagos.

The statement read partly, “The participants were urged to be change agents in rebuilding cultural norms and practices that spike gender – based violence within the society.

“Culprits of all forms of Gender-Based Violence, will henceforth be paraded publicly, as measures to curb such societal menace.”
