Lagos, Nigeria’s economic capital, on Wednesday recorded zero COVID-19 infection for the second time in six months.
This was disclosed on the official website of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control on Wednesday.
The last time the state registered a similar clean slate was on January 29, 2021.
Although the NCDC did not give reason for the development, Lagos, however, remains the epicentre of the virus in Nigeria with over a third of the total infections.
The public health agency said that the eight new COVID-19 cases reported were from Rivers-four, FCT- three and Kwara-one.
While stating that that no COVID-19 related fatality was recorded, the NCDC added that 45 people have been discharged after testing negative to the virus
This is just as the agency disclosed that the nation’s total recoveries had increased to 163,528 as of June 16.
NAN reported that 2,231,409, people have so far been tested since the first confirmed case relating to the COVID-19 pandemic was announced on February 27.
