In a swift intervention, officers attached to the Bode Thomas Division of the Lagos State Police Command rescued two suspected thieves from a furious crowd of people.

Confirming the incident, the spokesperson for the State Police Command, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, disclosed the details on Wednesday.

According to Hundeyin, the suspects, along with others, robbed a woman of her valuable phone, triggering the anger of bystanders.

“At around 11 pm, while a passerby was making a phone call, five young men in a tricycle approached her and forcefully took her expensive phone,” he explained.

“Her outcry alerted people nearby, who pursued the assailants. Three managed to escape, while two were caught.

“Officers from the Bode Thomas Division swiftly responded to the situation, arriving just in time to rescue Kehinde Olayinka, aged 22, and Junior Olanrewaju, aged 21, from the enraged crowd.”

Hundeyin emphasized that investigations are ongoing to apprehend the remaining suspects who fled the scene.
