The Lagos State Police Command has apprehended a 25-year-old mechanic, Adedamola Oluwaseyi, for allegedly absconding with a customer’s vehicle and selling it off in parts.

The arrest was made in Ladipo, Mushin, as the suspect was caught in the act of stripping and selling the car.

The police spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the incident in a statement released on Monday.

According to Hundeyin, the arrest followed the prompt response of officers from the Mushin Division after receiving credible information about the ongoing incident.

“Recovered from the suspect was a red Toyota Camry without a number plate. Also missing from the vehicle were the engine, brain box, and the two front tyres,” stated Hundeyin.

Further investigation revealed that the mechanic, entrusted with the vehicle for repairs, proceeded to Ladipo Spare Parts Market to sell it off in parts.

The police spokesperson added, “The suspect will be arraigned at the conclusion of investigations.”
