Operatives of the Zone 2 Police Command in Onikan, Lagos State, have arrested three individuals suspected of involvement in the illicit trade of human body parts.

The arrested suspects were identified as Adrbanjo Wasiu, Moshood Najimdeen, and Segun Asunni.

The newly appointed spokesperson for the zone, SP Umma Ayuba, confirmed the arrest in a statement issued on Wednesday.

SP Ayuba disclosed, “Operatives from the Zone 2 Police Command, responsible for Lagos and Ogun states, apprehended Moshood Najimdeen ‘m’ at his residence in the Oke-Ola area of Ago-Iwoye, Ogun State. During a search at his residence, two suspected human hearts were discovered.”

According to Ayuba, the investigation into the alleged crime unfolded a startling revelation. “Upon interrogation, the suspect alleged that he had paid fifty thousand naira (N50,000.00k) to Adebanjo Wasiu ‘m’, who he claimed helped him obtain the two human hearts. Adebanjo Wasiu ‘m’, in turn, implicated Segun Asunni ‘m’ as the source of the hearts.”

To ascertain the authenticity of the findings, the two suspected human hearts have been sent to the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital for thorough examination and confirmation.

The investigation is ongoing, and further details will be communicated as they emerge.

The Assistant Inspector General of Police, AIG Ari Muhammed Ali, urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities promptly to the nearest police formation in their locality.
