The Lagos State Police Command has issued an apology to DJ Switch and various media outlets following a mix-up in reports regarding the arrest of a certain DJ in Lagos.

The Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, expressed regret over the confusion, specifically apologizing to DJ Switch. Hundeyin clarified, “There is a mix-up from our end. Arrested person is DJ Commissioner Wysei not DJ Switch. Apologies for all inconveniences to a few media outfits like Lindaikeji, BBC and TVC that I gave confirmation this morning. Apologies to DJ Switch too.”

Earlier, Hundeyin had informed certain media platforms, including LIB, that DJ Switch had been arrested for allegedly assaulting female officers, obstructing arrest, and preventing the police from carrying out their duty.

Reacting to the false reports, DJ Switch addressed the situation, debunking the arrest claims. She stated, “I was woken up by a barrage of calls and text this morning… Only to find that I, have been arrested… These false reporting is dangerous and negatively shapes narratives.”

Furthermore, DJ Switch emphasized her stance against violence towards the police and called out the media for spreading misinformation without proper verification. She warned of legal action against those spreading false news, urging them to correct their mistakes promptly.

SP Benjamin Hundeyin reiterated the police command’s apology for the misinformation and acknowledged the need for accurate reporting to prevent damaging narratives.
