A 45-year-old security guard, Micheal Akande, on Tuesday appeared before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing a tricycle valued at N1 million.

Akande, whose residential address was not given, is facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing.

He, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The Prosecutor, Inspector Funmi Akinleye, alleged that the defendant conspired and stole a tricycle with registration number BDG 532 QK, property of one Olatunji Ojo.

Akinleye told the court that the defendant committed the offences with others still at large on Feb. 12, at 5:00 a.m., at Wheeloil Filling Station along Ipaja Road, Agege.

She submitted that the defendant worked as a security guard at the petrol station where the tricycle was parked and later got missing.

The prosecutor said the alleged offences contravened sections 411 and 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The Magistrate, Mrs T.A. Oladele, granted the defendant N200,000 bail with two sureties in like sum.

Oladele said that the sureties must be gainfully employed and have evidence of two years’ tax payment to the Lagos State Government.

The magistrate adjourned the case until April 13, for mention. (NAN)
