LAGOS PDP! Jimi Agbaje defeats Doherty to win governorship ticket
Nigerian Pharmacist, and two-time governorship aspirant, Jimi Agbaje, has emerged as the winner of Peoples Democratic Party’s governorship primary for Lagos State.
According to Channels, the 61-year-old Agbaje polled 1,100 votes to defeat his rival, Adedeji Doherty, who polled 742 votes.
Jimi Agbaje joined the Action Congress (AC) – his first political party.
In 2007, Agbaje who had initially aspired to contest for the Governor of Lagos State on the platform of the AC left the party to join the Democratic People’s Alliance (DPA).
Agbaje contested in gubernatorial election on the DPA platform, but eventually, alongside other major contenders – Musiliu Obanikoro of PDP, Femi Pedro of Labour Party lost to Babatunde Raji Fashola of the Action Congress.
He left DPA in 2011 and went on to join PDP.
In 2015 governorship election, Agbaje lost to incumbent governor, Akinwunmi Ambode.
