Lagos monarch to build multi-billion naira mall, nightlife facilities on eight-hectare Oniru beach

The Oniru of Iru land, Oba Omogbolahan Lawal, has launched a multi-billion naira project aimed at turning the entire Oniru beach front into a prime tourists’ destination.

The eight-hectare Good Beach project, to be sited in Oniru coastal area of Lagos Island, would be undertaken in collaboration Skyview Nirvara and Boxmall Nigeria.

It will comprise of shopping malls, clubs, nightlife facilities, family fun arena, beachfront, restaurants, office arena, event halls and more.

Adii Mba, Managing Director, Skyview Nirvara, said the idea was to have a replica of Ibiza located in Spain as one of the balearic Islands in Lagos where tourists can have fun exploring different aspects of coastal life.

“What we are trying to do is to improve Lagos tourism, we are thinking of an Ibiza located in Spain in Lagos.

“What we have is a mixture of retail shops, clubs, nightlife, family fun arena, beachfront, restaurants, and more.

“This is 26,000 square meters, eight hectares of real estate where we have created nothing but fun for people,” he said.

Nazin Jarmawani of Boxmall Nigeria said the entire Good Beach was built on containers as the construction would be done in three phases.

He noted that the project was worth N3billion, adding that the first phase would be ready by April, second phase would also be ready by December while the third phase would linger till 2023.

” So basically, we build everything on containers, which is the reason we are able to come up with these developments so quickly.

” It is eco friendly, we can move them around, we can transfer them and it is going to be the biggest container park like the 220 containers in Dubai.

” The area is secured, we already have a private security firm that is very attractive, so, there is no fear of hoodlums attacking anyone, also, the road will soon be developed,” he said.

Mr Hakeem Akintoye, Private Secretary to Oba Oniru said that the project was the Oniru’s vision of turning the entire beach front at Oniru into a prime tourist destination.

He said the project would help in developing Lagos State Gross Domestic Product through the activities of tourists

” You can see it is a bigger playing ground for entertainment, leisure, tourism and of course, family time, it is a lot of investment in millions and billions of naira.

“The new areas that we are going to include is the entire beach from Ligali Ayorinde end on to Oniru waterfront.

” Oniru estate beach front is arguably the primest of all the beach front assets that we have in Lagos presently and if we put it to good use I am sure in addition to creating jobs for a number of our young people it will grow the economy of Lagos state,” he said.

Akintoye hinted that plans were underway to come up with a tourism calendar that wiould incorporate activities at the Good Beach for tourists. (NAN)
