There was tension in Iyana Isashi, Ojo Local Government Area of Lagos State, after a man identified as Alex, also known as Fleximore, was shot by suspected gunmen and later died from the injuries.

According to the PUNCH, the incident happened around 8 pm on Friday. Alex was on his way to meet a friend when two men on a motorcycle stopped him, and one of them pulled out a gun and shot him at close range.

A resident who spoke on condition of anonymity stated, “Alex stays at Cele Niza here in Iyana Isashi. He had just returned from work when he stepped out again, probably to meet a friend. Suddenly, some men on a bike stopped him on the road and shot him. The gunshot attracted people who rushed to the spot and found him in a pool of blood. The gunmen sped off on their motorcycle.”

The victim was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he remained in a coma until Wednesday morning when he was confirmed dead.

“We lost him this morning. He had been in a coma since Friday. The doctors tried all they could, but he didn’t make it,” another resident said.

Community members said Alex may have been targeted because of a fight he had at a nightclub the night before.

One of his friends, identified as Quadri, said, “Some of his friends who went to the club with him told us he had a serious fight with some guys there. It started as an argument and later became a confrontation. Although people tried to settle it, that is very unusual of him. Alex was easy-going and not known for trouble, so some people believe the attack was connected to what happened at the club.”

Residents disclosed that burial arrangements are now being made for the deceased.

When contacted, the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Adebisi, said she was not aware of the case. “I am not aware of the incident, but I will call the DPO in the area to confirm,” she said.

Communities along the Lagos-Badagry Expressway, including Iyana Isashi, have in recent months witnessed repeated cult-related shootings. In August, PUNCH Metro reported that unidentified gunmen shot dead a passenger inside a commercial bus near Okoafo, Agbara axis of the same road.
