Chairman of the Egbe-Idimu Local Council Development Area in Lagos, Prince Idris Balogun, has commemorated his first 100 days in office with a wide range of empowerment programmes aimed at improving the livelihoods of residents.

The ceremony, which drew thousands of attendees dressed in vibrant aso-ebi, saw beneficiaries receive starter tools and equipment including sewing machines, hair dryers, tablets, makeup kits, welding materials and other work-related items.

The chairman also announced an ongoing cash transfer initiative, under which 500 residents will receive N100,000 each to support their micro-business ventures.

Reflecting on his achievements within the first 100 days, Balogun said: “It is not about occupying an office, but about uplifting the people.”

He outlined his accomplishments across four key areas: Education, Infrastructure and Environment, Governance and Public Service Delivery, and Social Welfare and Community Support.

On Education, he highlighted the distribution of 3,00 GCE forms to pupils, with a promise of free tutorial classes to boost their performance. He also revealed the provision of exercise books, school uniforms, school bags and other learning materials.

In the area of Infrastructure, Balogun listed the completion of PHIDEL College Street, Prince Tunde Balogun/Abeokuta Street, Market/Jemi Alade Street and Olisa Street as newly delivered road projects, while noting that construction work is ongoing on Omoboriowo Street.
