Yishawu, representing Eti-Osa Constituency II, gave the commendation in a statement issued in Lagos on Wednesday.

The Newsmen recalls that World Humanitarian Day is celebrated every August 19 to commemorate humanitarian workers killed and injured in the course of their work.

The day was to also honor all aid and health workers who continued, despite the odds, to provide life-saving support and protection to people most in need.

Yishawu appreciated the health workers across the country, especially Lagos State, who provided support at this pandemic period.

“Let me join the United Nations to commemorate humanitarian workers killed and injured in the course of their work.

“We commend health workers on the COVID-19 frontlines, without whom this pandemic would have been worse. We must continue to support and pray for them,” he said.

Yishawu, who is the Chairman, House Committee on Budget and Economic Planning, urged the health workers not to be weary in this time of the pandemic, saying their work is well recognized and appreciated.

The lawmaker said the House would continue to pray for the health workers and give them the necessary support in the course of their duties.
