The Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency has arrested 16 people for breaking the state’s environment laws in the Ojodu Berger area.
The state’s Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, shared this on his X handle (formerly Twitter) on Wednesday.
Wahab stated, “During an overnight monitoring operation in Ojodu Berger, officials from the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps (@LAGESCOfficial) arrested 16 individuals for engaging in open urination, open defecation, and failing to use the pedestrian bridge.”
He added that these arrests are part of ongoing campaigns called #ZeroToleranceLagos and #CleanerLagos to ensure public hygiene and safety.

Earlier, the agency had begun cleaning the pedestrian bridge and barricades on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway at Berger, which had been repeatedly soiled with feces and urine.
The Lagos State government warned that those caught violating environmental laws would be prosecuted according to the state’s regulations.
