Officials from the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps have taken action to remove miscreants and beggars occupying pedestrian bridges in the Oshodi area of the state.
The Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, shared this development via his official handle on Monday.
Wahab highlighted that the officials conducted an operation to clear out miscreants squatting inside pedestrian bridges, aiming to enhance safety for pedestrians.
In his statement, he said, “The Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps, LAGESC, led by Corps Marshal, Major Olatunbosun Olaniyi Cole, Rtd, earlier today conducted an enforcement operation to dislodge touts and miscreants constituting nuisance on the Oshodi and Ikeja along pedestrian bridges.”
“While we encourage Lagosians to desist from crossing the highways and use the pedestrian bridges, this enforcement will be conducted and sustained across the state, and any person found constituting a threat to the safety of pedestrians on the highway will be apprehended and prosecuted by the courts to serve as deterrents to others,” Wahab added.
