The Lagos State Police Command has confirmed the sudden death of CSP Bolaji Olugbenga, the Divisional Police Officer in charge of Ijanikin Police Station.

He collapsed in his office on Thursday evening and died before he could be taken to the hospital.

Police spokesperson SP Benjamin Hundeyin confirmed the sad news on Friday night. He said, “Yes, it’s true. CSP Bolaji Olugbenga slumped in his office on Thursday and unfortunately passed away before help could reach him.”

The officers at Ijanikin Police Station were left in mourning after the tragic incident. A source revealed that Olugbenga’s body has been taken to a mortuary.

This marks the second time within a week that a Lagos DPO has died under similar circumstances. Days earlier, SP Mojeed Salami, the DPO of Seme Police Station, also collapsed in his office and died after being rushed to the hospital.

Salami had reportedly sent an orderly to call the Divisional Crime Officer but was found gasping for breath when the orderly returned.
