A female pedestrian was left unconscious after she was knocked down by a dispatch rider along the busy Ikorodu express road around the Onipanu area of Lagos State.

The victim who is suspected to be in her 50s was reportedly trying to cross the road around 7pm when the ghastly accident occurred.

According to reports, the dispatch rider, name unknown, appeared to have been unaware that the woman, name unknown, was crossing the highway.

While the woman could barely move or talk, requiring urgent medical attention, the dispatch rider also required a medical check having sustained a deep injury on his face.

Attempts to contact the Lagos State Emergency toll-free line by concerned onlookers at the scene proved futile as the line was unreachable.

After minutes of failed attempts to access the 112 emergency line, a bystander was finally able to connect with the emergency line but the agent who attended to the call couldn’t be of help as the call was soon terminated.

However, the attention of officials of the Lagos State Emergency Management Response Unit situated along the Fadeyi-Onipanu area was called to the scene minutes after the accident after another witness ran to alert them at their station.

As of the time of filing this report, the medics of the LASEMA Unit are currently to the victims; the woman and the dispatch rider.
