The Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps has taken action against traders in the Akiogun Road area of Oniru, Eti-Osa Local Government Area, by demolishing shops and arresting two individuals.
The Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, announced this development via a post on his official X handle.
According to reports, the demolition occurred during a morning patrol in the Lekki-Ajah area, where officials of the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps demolished kiosks along Chevron Drive.
“After clearing the area last week, street traders had regrouped along Chevron Drive. The area has been cleared again, and two people have been arrested,” Tokunbo stated.
In a related incident, the Lagos State Wastewater Management Office sealed the Carillion Construction office building on T.F Kuboye Street, Oniru Extension, Victoria Island, for illegally discharging sewage into the public drainage system using a pumping machine.
“The office building was found to be carrying out illegal discharge of sewage into the public drainage via a pumping machine,” Tokunbo explained.
Furthermore, in response to a petition from the Omole Phase Two Community Development Association, operatives from various government agencies removed illegal structures on the drainage setback of Somide Odujinrin Avenue.
“The Lagos State Government reiterates its zero tolerance for illegally discharging untreated sewage wastewater into the public drains and water bodies,” Tokunbo emphasized.
