In a bid to alleviate the financial burden of chronic illnesses on low-income Nigerians, health-tech social enterprise Health4Moni has announced the launch of Art4Health, an initiative aimed at raising N100 million for its Cancer and Chronic Care Fund.
The campaign, set to begin on December 20, 2024, will open with an art exhibition in Ikoyi, Lagos, featuring works by acclaimed artists such as Ife Olowu, the Painting Prophet, Rosaleen Labazzachy, and 4d Truth.
Proceeds from the event will be directed towards subsidizing life-saving treatments for 100 Nigerians facing chronic illnesses in 2025.
Speaking on the initiative, Health4Moni founder Kemi Olakunle described the project as a response to the struggles of families burdened by the high cost of healthcare.
“Art4Health is a bold initiative designed to raise N100m for the Cancer and Chronic Care Fund. This fund will provide discounted care and co-payment assistance to Nigerians battling chronic illnesses,” Olakunle said in a statement.
She also highlighted the deeper connection between art and healing, noting that the showcased pieces symbolise resilience and hope.
“Each brushstroke, each piece on display, carries a message: no one should have to choose between health and financial survival,” she added.
The fund aims not only to provide immediate financial relief but also to contribute to the sustainability of Nigeria’s healthcare system.
Olakunle stressed that proceeds would be strategically managed to ensure long-term impact.
“This initiative underscores the belief that everyone deserves a chance to live with dignity, regardless of their economic circumstances,” she said, urging individuals and organisations to join the effort to make healthcare accessible for all.
Health4Moni has been at the forefront of tackling systemic barriers to healthcare through innovative financing and strategic collaborations.
The Art4Health campaign reflects its commitment to empowering underserved Nigerians and addressing inequities in the healthcare system.
The campaign also seeks to spark a national conversation about the urgent need for equitable healthcare in Nigeria, leveraging the universal language of art to inspire collective action.
