Lagos among 10 least liveable cities worldwide
After the city of Damascus in war-torn Syria, Lagos, the commercial nerve center of Nigeria is the least liveable city in the world, according to the Global Liveability Report 2017. The report was published by The Economist Intelligence Unit, the research, and analysis division of The Economist Group.
Melbourne, Austrailia was named the “Most Liveable City” in the world, followed by the Austrian capital Vienna. Three Canadian cities — Vancouver, Toronto, and Calgary — followed respectively to complete the top five.
Adelaide came next followed by Perth at seven, Auckland, Helsinki, and Hamburg took the 8th to 10th positions respectively.
Libya’s Tripoli, Bangladesh’s Dhaka and Port Moresby in Papua New Guinea made the list of least liveable cities along with Nigeria
EIU’s 2017 ranking claimed to have analysed culture, education, environment, healthcare, infrastructure, and stability in 140 different cities to come to the published conclusion.
