A lady has accused a supermarket in Lekki area of Lagos of selling products that expired in 2016.

Valerie Okeke had on her Twitter handle, @Valerie_Okeke, called out Monifee supermarket for allegedly concealing the expiry date of some M&M chocolate she bought from the shop.

In a Twitter thread, Okeke had said,

“Guys, so I went to Monifee supermarket at itedo Lekki to get stuff, I got to the counter and after the staff checked my items, she said my bill was 570. I found that really odd because I bought 2 M&Ms.

I tell the staff to check the items again as 570 was too cheap. The items were 1 pack of Vicks blue, 1 big bottle water and 2 M&Ms. She says it’s 570. Then I ask her how come? How much is one M&M? She says N100

I couldn’t believe it because I’m an avid M&M buyer and I know 1 sells for about 300-350. So I grab the M&M and go check for the expiry date, it read 18-12-2018. Still not convinced, I began to go look at it closely.

Reading every single detail on the wrap. Then I noticed something strange, the part that had the expiration date looked odd. It had a brown kind of tape on it. Ha! So I began to scratch it out

Noticed it was peeling off and voila, I saw the original expiration date 11-09-16. Guys, 2016 ooooo not even 2017. This was a shocker. I started complaining and these people were just ignoring me.
