A rejuvenated Arsenal made a comeback win against rivals Tottenham in the North London Derby at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday.

Alexandre Lacazette was the hero for Mikel Arteta’s men who secured their first north London derby win since December 2018.

Erik Lamela gave the visitors the lead with an unbelievable ‘rabona’ finish after only replacing Heung Min Son who got injured in the first half.

However, Arsenal were determined to give their manager his first derby win over Spurs as a player and a coach.

The visitors were eventually unlocked before the end of the first half through Martin Odegaard who got his second Arsenal goal in two straight matches.

Arsenal picked up from where they ended the first half by taking the game to Jose Mourinho’s men in the opening minutes of the second half and got rewarded with a penalty.

Lacazette sent Hugo Lloris the wrong way to make it 2-1, giving Arsenal the lead for the first time in the game.

The double-agent in Lamela came to play later in the game when he received a second yellow card for a foul on Kieran Tierney and was sent off, reducing Mourinho’s side to 10 men in the 76th minute.

Spurs almost got an equaliser with some minutes to the end but Harry Kane was denied by the woodwork and the follow-up shot by Davinson Sanchez was well-blocked by Gabriel.

Arsenal ended Tottenham’s five-match winning streak as their top-four hopes suffer a setback.

Mourinho’s men remain seventh on the log, six points behind fourth-placed Chelsea.

The win keeps the Gunners’ European qualification hopes alive as they trailed by four points behind Tottenham to maintain their tenth position.
