The epic film, Labake Olododo, continues to make waves in Nigerian cinemas, grossing over N150 million at the box office.
Known for its captivating storytelling and striking visuals, the film has drawn large audiences since its premiere in March.
Alaba Ultimate, who plays the pivotal role of Adigun and also serves as co-executive producer, described his involvement in the production as a milestone moment in his artistic journey. The storyline centers on a female warrior whose fate is intricately shaped by her grandparents, setting off a dramatic narrative that has kept viewers enthralled.
Speaking about his character, Alaba revealed the depth of effort it took to embody Adigun. He referred to the role as both challenging and immensely rewarding. His performance has garnered praise, with many considering his portrayal of Adigun one of Nollywood’s most memorable antagonists in recent times.
“The complexity of Adigun’s character pushed me to my creative limits. Working alongside such talented professionals made every challenging scene worthwhile,” said Alaba Ultimate.
The film has sparked conversations nationwide, particularly around Alaba Ultimate’s compelling performance. His transformation into the fearsome second-in-command to the titular warrior has left an indelible impression on fans and critics alike. Viewers who attended a recent screening at IMAX Lekki Phase 1 lauded his interpretation of the character, recognizing the contributions of the veteran actor who, after relocating to the United States, remains firmly rooted in his craft.
Reflecting on the demanding nature of the production, Alaba also commended his co-executive producer and lead actress Iyabo Ojo for her strength and leadership throughout the filming process.
“It was artistically challenging. I mean taking such a multifaceted role. I praise my director, Biodun Stephen’s visionary guidance and the collaborative spirit of my fellow cast members for creating an environment where his performance could truly flourish,” he said.
Alaba Ultimate’s rich artistic background played a crucial role in shaping his performance. With over 15 years in the film industry, two decades as a professional musician, and seven years of content creation and brand influencing, he brought a wealth of experience and authenticity to his character. His upcoming single, “Wamumi Debe,” is set to showcase yet another dimension of his artistic expression.
